Thoughts in the shape of words.

Remember

It’s one of those mornings when traffic’s shut down

Drains you of energy as you wait lost in time

When you’re already depressed and stuck with a frown

It don’t make it no easier waiting in line

And when all of your friends are missing in action

Tears might fall down on your weathered cheeks

What used to bring joy don’t bring no satisfaction

And you can’t keep focus on anyone who speaks

When the weight on your shoulders is just an ounce too much

You’ve been feeling so lonely just wanting a human touch

Remember that the sun will rise tomorrow

Remember that the birds will sing again

Remember that joy will follow sorrow

Remember that you’ll make it through the pain

Intertwining Blues

Intertwining blues

I’m just riding along with you

I thought it would be us through and through

Intertwining blues

Kind hearted woman

We’ve been travelling so long

I remember us laughing through the night

And this is our last song

Intertwining blues

I was riding along with you

I thought it would be us through and through

Intertwining blues

Well intended man

He was so happy he found you

Do you remember the joy you once shared

Went away like the morning dew

Intertwining blues

We were too young to lose

We just knew it would be us through and through

But all that was left in the end

Was intertwining blues

Whatever Keeps Away That Evil Eye

Will you tell me something hopeful

I really need to get away from the news

Will you sell me something wonderful

Whatever kicks these fucking blues

Can I tell you what I’m thinking

There’s something wrong with my mind

Don’t know if it’s all the drinking

Or the tally of these white lines

I just need something to grab on to

Just an ounce of something real

Something I can carry with me

No matter how I feel

Something to keep the flame alive

Something that’s never gonna’ die

Whatever keeps away that evil eye

Something to make me kiss the old ways goodbye

Whatever keeps away that evil eye

So please take the time with me

I may be slow but I’m willing to learn

And please forget about my disease

I’m a star that’s still waiting to burn

I just need something to grab on to

Just an ounce of something real

Something I can carry with me

No matter how I feel

Something to keep the flame alive

Something that’s never gonna’ die

Whatever keeps away that evil eye

Something to make me kiss the old ways goodbye

Whatever keeps away that evil eye

Healing

On that fateful day

When the old order was brought down

We all came face to face with death

In a series of strange events

I was sitting in a crowded room

With a view over the old town

The reactions to what happened

Kept us all in suspense

The morning after

The air smelled so different

The streets were calm

No people in sight

I could only think about those

That were innocent

Those just getting by

With no stakes in the fight

It all fell down

Before our eyes

It hit the ground

A thousand souls cried

How do we remember

How can we move on

We fall down on our knees

Asking how can we heal

We fall down on our bare knees

Asking how can we heal

Remember the innocent and the weak

And how the city used to be alive

Light a candle and pray for our souls

To heal you have to give it a try

And we heal by sticking together

Not letting the demons get the better

Of us

Anymore

We heal by letting the light in

By not getting fooled again

No more

Of their dirty war

Emerging Through Darkness

Trying to avoid evil and follow the light

But these ghosts in my mind make it hard to see

Feeling so alone, so many friends lost in the night

And the love I once cherished has gone away from me

Please don’t approach me with yesterday’s task

I can’t take no more on this woeful day

I can’t carry more despite what the Pharaoh asks

Not with the northern wind coming over the bay

None of my foolish imaginary promises came to fruition

And I never really saw past your assortment of masks

Now I’m living in limbo with a sense of damnation

Lone wolf a-hunting without his wolfpack

I just need a break to figure things out

Don’t have to go to Spain, just gotta get away

Where the birds chirp happier than here about

Sip on some smoking hot coffee at a vibrant café

Wishing that there would be one more chance

To turn things around and mend the past

But the truth is there’s no more romance

The feelings once there went away too fast

As I sit here contemplating this ordeal

My feet hurt like they’ve walked a million miles

I never would have guessed I’d lose my appeal

But I’m somehow depraved of all sense and style

Wishing for the impossible since I was a kid

Never did wonders in dealing with the harsh truth

Life is a game of passion and play for those who have lived

For the rest of us, there’s always the Vermouth

When you hear of this destiny, do not be frightened

These things needed to happen, still they’re not the end

For still a man can rise up and become enlightened

This is merely the beginning of a new path my friend

Every Day Is the Same

I ride the same train every day

With the same people

On the same seats

With that grey fabric

Going nowhere

I walk the same streets every morning

Past the same cafés

Selling the same coffee

With the smell of burnt coffee in the air

For everyone’s drugged up productive welfare

Isn’t it a pity

To be confined

To these chains

When you can be something else?

Isn’t it such a pity

Every single day

Looks the same

When you’re not born for the conventional?

There’s so little time

To be what you wanna’ be

Unbreakable

Sensational

Living a life that’s multi-dimensional

Ain’t got no more time for your silly games

You can conform on your own

I break free from the shackles

And try to be me

Ain’t got no more time

To be the same

Like you

Hungry for more

An entire library in my mailbox

Kitchen’s filled with dishes

There ain’t no bread in the breadbox

The left overs smell suspicious

Floor’s so dusty I can’t remember the color

Windows blend into the walls

Can’t uncover a single dollar

What happened last night I can’t recall

Looking out at the grey autumn sky

The body seems stuck to the couch

Anything left in that bottle of rye

Or perhaps in the tobacco pouch

Moments flash before my eyes

Vague old hazy memories

Can’t tell if they’re truth or lies

Treachery or treasury

If there was just a tiny spark

Something to hold on to

A ship on which to embark

Ideas worth seeing through

I’d sail that sea to the end of the world

Stop worrying about the daily grind

Use everything I’ve learned

Be the master of my own design

Awaiting the Slow Revival

The rain eases down slowly

Outside this old villa

The creaking of the wooden floor

The sleeping dogs by the sofa

A box of tobacco on the table

Icons on the walls

Books on the shelf

A swallow flies by

As she falls asleep beside me

In her old home

Coltrane plays some notes

Death arrives soon

Where shall we be

When the winds get heavy

And lust is conquered

By instincts of mortality

At the end of summer

The darkness creeps in

The cold air mingles

With warm cups of coffee

And yet again we prepare

For time to be shared

In our temple of survival

Awaiting the slow revival

Resurrection

The last tired leaf

In the final days

Of the season of life

Still hanging on

Not very strong

Awaiting a slow death

Lying dormant for a long time

Before the miracle

Of resurrection

Of new life

And the things

That matters

The joy of light

The glasses that shatter

In the never ending night

That time will come

Just pull through

The dark night

And cold days

Death leads to life

That is the order of things

As it was

A long time ago

So shall we be resurrected

The Spoken Word, the Open Mind

Stand your ground

Speak your mind

Especially when

Facing different views

It’s the only way to learn

The only way to evolve

Embrace the argument

Thrive in the conversation

It’s too easy just yelling

Too easy not listening

You might miss something

You never thought about

When the free word suffer

The ceiling crashes down

You don’t have to agree

You just need to listen

And stand your own ground

When you’re convinced

But never fail to think twice

When hearing a valid point

You may think you’d won the fight

But even a fool is sometimes right
